What's Included at Every Price Point
No matter the project size, every Affinity engagement comes standard with these commitments.
Direct PE access
Daniel De Witte, P.E. #82726, leads every project with PE-level oversight from scope through final inspection. No junior engineers. No handoffs.
Same-business-day response
Every call, text, and email is returned the same business day. No exceptions.
Jurisdiction-specific plan check review
Before your drawings are submitted, we review them against your city's known plan check triggers — keeping correction rates low and timelines on track.
Construction-phase support
When construction starts, your PE stays available for RFIs, field questions, inspector issues, and site visits. Standard — not an upsell.
Revision guarantee
If your plans require revisions due to an error or omission on Affinity's part, they are revised at no additional charge. Period.
The Cheapest Quote Rarely Stays the Cheapest
Here's what we see from clients who come to Affinity after a bad experience elsewhere.
What cheaper engineering costs you
Plan check corrections add 4–8 weeks to your permit timeline. Vague drawings lead to field RFIs and inspection failures. An unresponsive engineer during construction means your GC makes structural calls they shouldn't have to. Every week of delay costs real money in contractor holds and schedule disruptions.
What Affinity's fee covers
Detailed drawings your GC can build from without field calls. Plans reviewed against your city's standards before submission. Same-day response throughout the project. Construction-phase support through final inspection. Clients who compare the total project cost — not just the engineering fee — consistently find that quality engineering saves money downstream.
Pricing Questions — Answered
What determines my project's fee?
Project complexity, number of structural elements, building type (wood frame vs. steel vs. masonry), and jurisdiction requirements. A simple single-wall garage conversion is on the lower end. A two-story addition with foundation work is on the higher end.
Do you charge hourly?
No. Affinity quotes flat fees for every project. If something changes the scope mid-project, we'll discuss it with you and re-quote in writing before proceeding. You'll never receive an invoice higher than what was agreed.
Is plan check correction support included?
Yes — one round of plan check corrections is included in every project fee. If corrections are due to an Affinity error or omission, all correction rounds are covered at no additional charge.
Do you charge extra for construction support?
Standard construction support (phone, text, email for RFIs and clarifications) is included at every price point. Extended support requiring multiple site visits may be billed separately — but this is always discussed and agreed to in advance.
Can I get a quote before committing?
Absolutely. Submit a request online. You'll have a written scope with a firm fee within 24 hours. No obligation. No deposit required just to get a quote.
How does Affinity's pricing compare to other engineers in OC?
Affinity's fees are competitive for Orange County. The difference is what's included: direct PE access, same-day response, jurisdiction-reviewed drawings, and construction-phase support come standard. Engineers quoting lower typically cut drawing detail, turnaround time, or availability during the build — and those savings disappear when corrections or delays follow.
